The government of Imo State under the leadership of Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha has filed an appeal against the court of appeals ruling yesterday ousting the Rochas Okorocha-appointed local government area [LGA] transitional chairmen and councilors.
This revelation was contained in
a press release from the commissioner of information, Chinedu Offor. The press release stated, “The government of Imo State has noted the judgment of the Court of Appeal even though it is yet to be served a copy of the judgment and wish to assure Imolites that there is no cause for alarm. This administration is law abiding and believes in the rule of law. Government will not tolerate any breach of public peace as a result of this judgment. Everyone is therefore enjoined to refrain from creating scenarios capable of disturbing public peace. The government has already filed an appeal against the judgment of the court.”
