Nursing mother stabs husband to death

                           


The police in Lagos have arrested a 33-year-old woman, Biola Gbadamosi, for allegedly murdering her husband, Jamiu, in the Ikorodu area of the state.According to the police, the suspect, who is a nursing mother, stabbed her husband with a knife during an argument over rice.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the suspect and her husband, who is a Vehicle Inspection Officer, had a history of domestic violence prior to the incident.Biola, who spoke to our correspondent while fighting back tears, said she had no intention of killing her husband, adding that she only stabbed him once on the thigh.She said,

Nigerian man killed by a lorry after storming out of car during row with his wife

                                


A Nigerian man was killed on a motorway after getting out of a car on the way to the airport after a fight with his wife over their credit card.

Daily Mail reports  

Nahinmu Nicholas had stormed out of the Ford Focus with his suitcases, saying he was going to hitch-hike to Heathrow, but was knocked down by a lorry in the morning darkness.
His wife had pulled over on what they both thought was the hard shoulder of the M25, not realising that it was a live lane because of roadworks. A coroner was told that lorry driver Martin Hook was unable to avoid Mr Nicholas as he suddenly caught sight of him.
His 13-tonne bread lorry also struck the couple’s car in the accident just six minutes after they had stopped on the clockwise carriageway of the M25 at junction 6 for Godstone,  Surrey, at around 4.30am on April 10.
Florence Olokun-Ola told the inquest in Woking, Surrey, that her husband was going to Nigeria alone for 12 days and that the fight started because she wanted their bank card while he was away. ‘The argument became very aggressive and his voice changed,’ she added.

Nigeria’s senior national team has dropped three places to 36th in the latest Fifa world ranking released on Thursday despite not losing any of their two games in the month under review.

The African champions were adjudged the 33rd best football playing team in the world according to the ranking released earlier in October.

Meanwhile Cote d’Ivoire remain at the summit of African football with 918 points which put them in the 17th position in the world while Ghana retained their 24th spot in the world and second in Africa.

Federal Government gives ASUU December 4 deadline to call off strike

                               

At a press briefing in Abuja this morning, Nyesom Wike the acting Minister of Education,  told journalist that the Federal Government has given the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) one week ultimatum to call off the ongoing strike or else the lecturer will stand the risk of losing their job
 ASUU executives and President Jonathan were supposed to meet this week but the meeting is yet to hold. The ASUU strike began July 1, almost 5 months and still no resolution.

The FG also said any Academic staff who fails to resume on or before December 4th automatically ceases to be a staff of the institution. Pro-chancellors of the various universities and the National Universities Commissions (NUC) have been directed to ensure compliance to this directive.

Sharia Police Smash 240,000 Bottles Of Beer In Kano, Promises Further Crackdown

Police enforcing Islamic law in the city of Kano publicly destroyed some 240,000 bottles of beer on Wednesday, the latest move in a wider crackdown on behaviour deemed “immoral” in the area.
The banned booze had been confiscated from trucks coming into the city in recent weeks, said officials from the Hisbah, the patrol tasked with enforcing the strict Islamic law, known as sharia.
Kano’s Hisbah chief Aminu Daurawa said at the bottle-breaking ceremony he had “the ardent hope this will bring an end to the consumption of such prohibited substances”.

The sleepy town of Ogotun-Ekiti in Ekiti SouthWest Local Government Area of Ekiti State was on Tuesday thrown into confusion when information filtered that a goat had delivered a human-like baby goat.
 The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the incident, which occurred in Lori Oke settlement, a village that is about 10 kilometres from Ogotun Town, drew the attention of hundreds of residents and travellers.
The spokesperson of the community, Sunday Ogunmeji, who spoke with a correspondent on behalf of the Baale (community head), Ganiyu Adetoun, said a pastor, Daniel Odedele, helped to deliver the goat of the baby.

Woman bites off neighbours manhood in Ibadan

                            

A middle aged woman, identified as Kemi on Sunday evening bit off the manhood of her neighbour around Inalende area of Ibadan. 
Kemi was said to have resorted to biting, according to an eyewitness, after she was thoroughly beating by the man, identified simply as Rasheed.
It was gathered that issues on how to settle a misunderstanding between Rasheed’s wife and another neighbour degenerated into a violent fight.

Nigerian who posted rap video on YouTube glorifying gang culture jailed for 22 years

                                             

A 21 year old Nigerian named Kayode Oshin (pictured right), who uploaded a video on YouTube boasting about trying to murder a rival with a machine gun was jailed for 22 years yesterday, Daily Mail reports. His accomplice, Junior Tahir-Akinyele (pictured left) was jailed for 14 years.
"Kayode Oshin, 21, attempted to assassinate Yassin Zouaiou with a Mac 10 in a feud over drugs and money in Hounslow, west London, after being enticed into a world of gang culture and crime’, a court heard.
Mr Zouaiou survived when the gun jammed - but a single bullet was fired, hitting his brother Mohammed Ali Subhani in the neck. But Oshin then posted a rap video bragging about the shooting on YouTube.
The shooting was carried out in an alleyway between North Drive and Kingsley Road, Hounslow, at around 1am on October 6, 2011, the court heard.

Imo Revokes Licences Of Motherless Babies’ Homes Over ‘Baby Factories’ Menace

The Imo State Government yesterday revoked the certificates of all motherless babies and foster homes in the state following increasing cases of such homes being found out to be ran as ‘baby factories’.

 Announcing this yesterday, in Owerri, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Nma Onyechere, said that buying and selling of human beings were not part of the Igbo culture, adding that the heat generated over the issue was enough to get government to react to the ugly situation.
Onyechere also warned that any staff of the ministry found to have established such homes would be summarily dismissed from service.

Gunmen attack Aviation Minister Stella Oduah's car - Police

                                

The FCT Police Command on Monday in Abuja confirmed that gunmen fired shots at the car of the Minister of Aviation, Ms Stella Oduah in Abuja. The spokesperson of the command, Altine Daniel, told the News Agency of Nigeria that the incident occurred at about 10 p.m. on Friday.

She added that the minister was not in the car when the incident took place.

Ms. Daniel, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, however, said that the incident was reported to the police on Monday at about 5:30 p.m. According to her, some metal objects were found in the vehicle which do not look like the conventional bullet. “The objects will be subjected to ballistic test,” she said. Adaobi Obih's suspected killer Ryan Klug caught in Texas

           

The prime suspect in the MURDER of 26 year old Nigerian, Adaobi. M. Obih, has been apprehended in Texas. Ryan Allen Klug was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals near Galveston, Texas on Saturday Nov. 23rd, four days after his roommate Adaobi was found dead in the flat they shared in Indiana.

A full time test engineer at Cummins Inc., Adaobi only began to pursue her PHD before she was murdered. Family sources said she leased the apartment on her own and Klug was her tenant who paid rent to her. They also said Ada interviewed a large number of people before deciding to lease a room to Klug. Only for him to end up killing her.

Ada's employees were alerted after she missed two days of work. They went to her flat to see what was going on with her only to find her lifeless body in her apartment. Ada had been stabbed multiple times and her throat cut.

Late MKO Abiola's wife Dr Doyin Abiola reportedly arrested for fraud

                                

According to a report by Sahara Reporters, one of late MKO Abiola's wife, and former MD of the defunct Concord Newspapers, Dr. Doyin Abiola has been arraigned before the Federal High Court, Lagos, for fraud.
A statement signed by Police Public Relations Officer DSP Ngozi Isintume-Agu said that the Financial Malpractices Investigation Unit (FMIU) of Special Fraud Unit (SFU) said that between 2006 and 2008, as a Director of the Integrated Microfinance Bank, Dr. Abiola granted to herself without collateral and approval from the Management, the sum of N26,611,246.48.

15yr old Nigerian boy shot& stabbed in his home after being mistaken for gang member

                               

A 15 year-old boy named Kieran Obazee was shot and stabbed on Friday Nov. 22 at his east London home by gang members in what police believe may have been a case of mistaken identity, Daily Mail reports. Fortunately, Kieran survived the vicious attack and but is in a serious condition in hospital.
Five men wearing balaclavas and armed with kives and a gun forced their way into the home in Plaistow just before 3am on Friday.

Sokoto state plans mass wedding for 250 widows, widowers


                              
The Sokoto State Government said on Sunday that it would give out in a mass wedding, 250 widows and widowers across the state to give them a new lease of life.

Alhaji Zubairu Goronyo, the state Commissioner for Social Development, who announced this at the screening of the beneficiaries in Sokoto, said that the venture would gulp N30 million.

According to him, a date will soon be fixed for the exercise.

Angola reportedly bans Islam

                              

The Guardian reports that on November 22, the Angolan Minister of Culture Rosa Cruz e Silva said that “the process of legalization of Islam has not been approved by the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights and so their mosques would be closed until further notice.”

Does a religion need to be legalized? The minister also said that the closing of mosques was done in a move to stop so-called 'illegal religious sects.' Under new laws in Angola, many religious sects have suddenly become criminal.

Yesterday November 24, Angola President José Eduardo dos Santos said that the country is working toward putting an end to Islamic influence in Angola once and for all while the Governor of Luanda, Bento Bento, said that “radical” Muslims are not welcome in the country and that the Angolan government will not be legalizing mosques or other places of worship for Muslims.

Nigerian teenager arrested in Italy for killing 60 year old woman

                     
 A 19 year old Nigerian homeless man has been arrested in Italy for killing a 60 year old woman. Nwajiobi Donald (pictured above) strangled Caterina Susca with a bag over her head in her home in Bari, a southern Italian coastal city on Monday November 11th. Unknown to him, a neighbor took his pictures as he left Susca’s house after the murder. Donald confessed to the murder on November 14th after he was arrested by police who confronted him with numerous pieces of incriminating evidence collected in the hours immediately following the crime.

ASUU Agrees To Suspend Strike After Secret Meeting, Gives Jonathan Three Conditions

University lecturers in Nigeria have agreed to end the five-month old strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, if the federal government agrees to three conditions, according to the Nigerian Eye.

The three conditions are expected to be made known to President Goodluck Jonathan today, after which the strike will be called off and if an agreement is reached.

Although, ASUU has forbidden its local chapters and zonal chairmen from talking to the press until the end of the session. A source, who was part of the ASUU session, which was held at Mambayya House in Kano, however revealed the conditions as:

A member of the House of Representatives from Ondo State died in the early hours of yesterday after what security sources said was a sexual affair with a female banker in his private residence located at Gwarinpa Estate in Abuja.
Rep. Raphael Oloye Nomiye, who was 50 years old, was until his death representing Ondo, Ilaje, Ese Odo in Ondo State under the platform of the Labour Party.

BPE Confirms Four Refineries To Be Privatized In 2014

The Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) on Sunday said that the bureau would privatise the four refineries in the country next year.

Mr Chigbo Anichebe, the Bureau’s Head, Public Communications, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that the refineries’ privatisation was part of the ongoing oil sector’s reforms.

Earlier last week, the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke, told Bloomberg TV Africa in London that the country would privatise its four government-owned refineries in the first quarter of next year.

32-yr-old Lebanese Arrested For Defiling Underage Girls

Police detectives have arrested a 32-year-old Lebanese, Jack Sankary, who is in the habit of defiling underage girls in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

Patience Godwin, who recruits girls for the Lebanese is currently undergoing interrogation at the state CID.

Patience was arrested at her hideout in Odopetu area of Akure metropolis and one 14-year-old girl about to be taken to the Lebanese rescued, according to reports.

President Jonathan Returns To Nigeria, Appreciates Nigerians For Their Love



President Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday, returned to the country and thanked Nigerians for the show of love extended to him while he was indisposed duringan economic forum in London.
Speaking to journalists shortly after he arrived at the Presidential Wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, from London, President Jonathan said; “I had health challenges. I thank God and I thank Nigerians for the concern they showed. I appreciate the show of love and concern by Nigerians.
“On Wednesday, even though I was in London, I read how people congratulated me, remem-bering my birthday that I don’t normally celebrate anyway.
“I really had some health challenges and I have to thank God again that I am very okay to resume work from this night (yesterday).

President Jonathan threatens SaharaReporters with libel, defamation



Found this news on Sahara Reporters. Apparently the president is threatening to sue the online news agency for defamation for reporting that his health problems while in London may have been caused by heavy partying in celebration of his birthday last week.

Meanwhile, presidential spokesman Reuben Abati said yesterday that the president will return to Nigeria today having been certified fit to travel after receiving treatment for acute abdominal pains. The doctors said no surgical intervention was required. Sahara Reporters libel report below...

Man Gets Five-Year Jail Term For Putting Child Up For Sale At N10m

                            


A 30-year-old man Isah Aliyu has been sentenced to five years imprisonment by the Niger State magistrate court sitting in Minna, the state capital, for intending to sell his 9-year-old child at N10m, an action he attributed to poverty.
The incident occurred on November 15 when the buyer, one Mallam Magaji, agreed to buy the child for N7 million, but promised to pay half of the money and balance at a later date.

Robbers Swoop Students Hostel, Rape Female Student to Coma

A 17-year-old female student of the University of Calabar (name withheld) was defiled to a state of coma by armed robbers who raided the hostel she and several other colleagues are living on Tuesday night in Calabar.

The robbers, according to a student who gave his name as Ngoli, attacked the hostel located at Mount Zion Road/Inyang Edem Street at about 2am and defiled all the female students, carted away all their laptops and cell phones.

Road Mishap Kills 30 In Benue

At least 30 persons have been reportedly killed in auto accidents across Benue state in the last three weeks, with over 100 persons injured.

Disclosing this yesterday, at the inauguration of the north central zone chapter of the Federal Roads Committee on Surveillance and Action Against Road Abuses, FERCSARA, in Makurdi, Zonal Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in charge of Zone 4, Assistant Corps Marshall Yakubu Attah attributed most of the mishaps that claimed innocent lives of motorists and commuters to “the abuse of roads in the state through illegal construction of speed bumps, cutting of major roads and making of bonfire and erection of illegal checkpoints on the roads.”

Assam Rape Festival in India allows men to freely rape young girls

Men in India are already beginning to celebrate as the annual Assam rape Festival is just days away. Every non-married girl aged 7-16 will have the chance to flee to safety or get raped. Madhuban Ahluwalia who heads up the annual festival told reporters why the event is so important.

Sadia Abdinur, 35, has been shunned by her friends and neighbours because they are convinced she has been possessed by the Devil.The mother-of-two contracted elephantiasis and, as a result, is immobile and unable to feed her children.

A 28-year-old pastor’s wife, Angela Uzoma has been arrested by policemen in Idimu, Lagos for allegedly scalding her sister, Chidinma Chukwu with hot water. According to reports, the incident was said to have happened at their residence located at Ifelodun Street Orisunmbare, Shasha, Lagos State. Mrs. Uzoma who is also a leader in her husband’s ministry at Shasha was said to have poured the hot water on Chidinma over her failure to sell a whole tray of paw-paw on the day the incident occurred. She has been arraigned before the Ejigbo Magistrates’ Court for injuring the teenager.
