A drug-sniffing dog alerted officers when it neared Pena,
but the feds searched her luggage without finding any drugs, then the officers
initiated a pat-down of the two women and discovered that each was wearing what
authorities called a “diaper” filled with six and a half kilos of cocaine
hidden under their pants.
Together, the women were charged with smuggling of cocaine.
Blassingale was held in custody by a Brooklyn federal judge,
while Pena was released on $150,000 bond.
