Nigerian goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama on Tuesday went into the
record books in France.
The 31-year-old is now the goal keeper with the second
longest clean sheet record in Ligue 1 after he inspired Lille OSC to a 1-0 win
over the country’s best supported club, Olympique Marseille at the Stade
Pierre-Mauroy on match day 16 of the competition.
Sirigu went 949 minutes without conceding in Ligue 1 between
November 17, 2012 and February 8, 2013 but Enyeama who had gone 945 minutes
without conceding before Tuesday’s game surpassed the mark with a clean sheet
at the Villeneuve d’Ascq against La OM.
Enyeama who has not let in a single goal in his last 11
league outings with Lille has now gone 1,035 minutes without letting in a goal
in the French top flight.
If the former Enyimba goalkeeper does not concede in the
next 142 minutes of action in the league, he will go into the history books as
the goalkeeper with the record of going the longest number of minutes without
conceding a goal.
