VIDEO: Killing of an innocent and unarmed Biafran (Viewer discretion advised)

This Video was made during the Nigeria-Biafra civil war of 1967-1970, It shows the Execution of a Man by name Mathias Kanu during a raid on an unidentified village in Biafra (now South East Nigeria) by Federal troops.
The reporter (from BBC, i guess) who uploaded this video intended to show it to the world in order to identify the Killer (Captain) & the Murdered (Mathias Kanu).

Several years down the line, i don't know if that mission was accomplished.
May Mathias Kanu's soul rest in peace, never again should this tragedy of war befall us.

NOTE-Tragedies like this have result in several write ups that condermed war. Chinua Achebe recently released a momoir he called - There was a Country. And another female Nigerian author and activist- AdaOkere Agbasimalo took another bold step in her new book- The Forest Dames. She condermed war totally and cited several reasons why war should not be fought. The two books by the above named authors are true life experiences on the Nigeria-Biafra civil war(1967 - 1970). 1. The Nigerian soldier who shot him was arrested soon after by Colonel Benjamin Adekunle and executed by firing squad even before the war ended in 1970. His own execution was also filmed by foreign press and shown round the world (circa 1968). His name was Macaulay Lamurde and he was a 23 year old lieutenant, not a captain.
Col. Adekunle was a disciplinarian in the Nigerian army who did not tolerate such unfair treatment of captured Biafrans by his troops. After British pressmen showed him this video, he arranged for a court-martial of Lt. Lamurde and personally supervised his execution to repair Nigeria's image globally and to serve as a warning to federal soldiers.

I hope this puts to rest the mind of many readers.

    2. "I hope this puts to rest the mind of many readers?" You must be joking over such a serious exposure. Who are you? What crossed your mind when you came up with this deceitful ploy to make an evidence of the 1960s genocide against the Biafrans a very cheap piece before the public domain?. Anyway, your anonymous status speaks volume and you can only sway the minds of non logical readers who choose to be deceived. Never you come up with such a deceit that the man who killed Mathias Kanu was executed. Lie of the highest order. Where is the video of such execution even if it was stage managed, show us that particular video? I want to believe it was covered by the same man that recorded that of Mathias Kanu or was it done by a different person? You need to come very clean. Mention your name, your role then and let the video that compliments and collaborates your very doubtful claims be shown by the side of this murderer under the guise of being a Nigerian soldier. Otherwise, stop that further deceit and allow natural justice to pursue this case at its own time. Otherwise, the spirit of Mathias Kanu and many others like him that were innocently and cold bloodily killed will follow you to your graveside. People of no conscience or human feelings but full of Nigerian-oriented syndrome - being deceptive in the full glare of the evidence.

    3. This is a different anonymous person, I spent hours researching the internet.

The anon person was right, he was executed.
Here is a photo link to the execution of the soldier.

"Those who live by the sword, die by the sword"

I also think you owe the anon an apology, besides, it won;'t hurt to do some research yourself.

      Thanks.

    4. You are correct. The officer, Lt Lamurde was executed after this incident. His face isn’t hidden. Everyone know who he is. He ceased to exist after that incident. There are no emotions about it. He was executed. Period.

  4. Both the killers and the journalists should be arrested for this crime. The Biafra war was just nothing to write home about . Alot of wickedness greeted the war.

  8. Why did they hide this footage for so many years? That murderous captain is somewhere enjoying a good retirement.
Britain shares some of the guilt for providing most of the arms used for this genocide.

  13. I have looked at the purported video of the so called execution of army lieutenant McCauley Larmude who allegedly killed an unarmed Biafran civilian called Mathias Kanu, and I have compared the features with that of the soldier who shot and killed Kanu in the BBC video. I can tell everyone unequivocally that McCauley Larmude was not the soldier who shot and killed Kanu. The soldier who killed Kanu spoke Hausa. Looked like someone from the middle belt of Nigeria, and would therefore to some certainty not bear the name McCauley. The features of McCauley and the soldier are different. The head and skull structure when superimposed did not fit. I can say to a certainty that the soldier who killed Mathias Kanu is not McCauley Larmude. I advise people to stop misinforming the citizenry and causing bereaved families further pain. We need a Biafran/Nigerian truth and war crime investigation committee to investigate the 1967-1970 war crimes and to reconcile the country social, politically and emotionally.
