Actors Plan Big For Pete Eneh's Burial

Members of the Actors' Guild of Nigeria, AGN, are planning to give the late actor, Pete Eneh, a befitting burial. The actor died last week Thursday, a few days after his left leg was amputated.

The Secretary-General of the guild, Abubakar Yakub, said though Eneh's family members are yet to finalise the burial arrangements, AGN will play a big part to ensure it is befitting.

"We are still waiting for his family members to come up with the burial arrangements. But definitely, we will organise a service of songs for him here in Lagos and take part actively in his burial activities.

"Pete Eneh was a complete actor and gentleman. He was a father to all, helped nurtured AGN and stood by the guild till death. We will miss him greatly and pray for his soul to rest in the bosom of the Lord," said Abubakar hinted.

National President of the guild, Ibinabo Fiberesima, described the death of the actor as a big blow to the industry and stressed the need for health, pension and insurance schemes for people in the movie industry.

"The pitiable state of most motion picture practitioners, even though we are in the klieglights with loads of fans and accolades, there is still much to be desired. It is for reasons like these that I am pursuing with so much vigour, the health plan, pension scheme and insurance for AGN members across the nation. The idea of running cap in hand to government at any level when incidents such as this occur isn't the solution, though necessary under the present circumstance. I pray that under my watch, the necessary uplift of actors would be achieved," she said.
